Biography

Tomory Dodge (b. 1974, Denver, CO) is a painter known for his dynamic, abstract works that explore light, color, and gesture. He received his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1998, where he also participated in the school’s European Honors Program in Rome in 1997, and went on to earn his MFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 2004. In 2022, Dodge completed an artist residency at the Corporation of Yaddo in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Dodge has presented solo exhibitions at Miles McEnery Gallery in New York, Philip Martin Gallery in Los Angeles, Lux Art Institute in Encinitas, Cherry and Martin in Los Angeles, CRG Gallery in New York, Inman Gallery in Houston, and ACME in Los Angeles. His work has also been featured in group exhibitions at major institutions including the International Print Center in New York, the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Oslo, the Pizzuti Collection in Columbus, the RISD Museum in Providence, the Saatchi Gallery and Zabludowicz Collection in London, the Santa Monica Museum of Art, and the Weatherspoon Art Museum in Greensboro, among others.

His paintings are held in numerous public collections, including the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, Collezione Maramotti in Italy, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Yale University Art Gallery.
