Established and emerging collectors come to Haystack with all kinds of questions. We love that. It shows your desire to learn, and lets us show our desire to support you from day one. Here are a few As to our most common Qs to spark curiosity and offer clarity.

A limited edition is one of a limited number of editions available for a particular artwork. The number of art prints or objects in an edition is determined by the artist, the printer, and the publisher. While multiple art objects are often confused with mass-produced copies of famous artworks, limited editions are original artworks that are extremely rare.

Limited editions are far more than just a copy. They have been specifically created by the artist and reproduced by an experienced craftsperson under the scrutiny of the artist and Haystack. The art object often comes with a certificate, an edition number on the piece (to establish the quantity), and the original artist’s signature to show authenticity.

General Shipping and Delivery:
Shipments are released every Tuesday. Therefore, the delivery of unframed prints can be expected within 1-2 weeks after purchase. Framed prints typically arrive in 3-4 weeks. The arrival time of framed prints is subject to change due to framer demand. We ship all domestic framed and unframed prints via FedEx Express Saver (3 day shipping).

Framed artwork:
Framed works are shipped in professionally crafted boxes that offer the strength of plywood and are suitable for land and air transport. Artwork will be specially fitted with foam surrounding all sides then sandwiched between layers of egg carton foam to provide shock absorption.

Unframed artwork:
Unmounted artwork will be shipped flat in carefully engineered packaging that provides a double layer of corrugated and puncture-resistant cardboard. We recommend leaving unframed prints in our packaging until you are able to deliver them safely to a professional framer.

Yes. We’ll ship your art anywhere you need it to go, including international destinations. The buyer is responsible for any additional costs such as duties, taxes, and customs clearance fees.

When you add your framed print to the shopping cart, you’ll be offered three frame options: white, black, or natural. In addition to the frame, we include UV-blocking Plexiglas instead of traditional glass. This offers the same protection as glass but removes the possibility of glass-shattering damage. The process typically takes 3-4 weeks. For full details, visit the Framing Guide on our blog.

Professional framing is the only way to ensure your art stays preserved for years, free from dust, dirt, moisture, sunlight, and other potential risks.

Our limited editions have been signed by the artist on the front or back of each piece. Additionally, each print has been editioned by the artist with the number of the art object created during the run, followed by the size of the reproduction run as a whole. For example, the first of ten editions would be marked 1/10, the last being labeled 10/10.

Here are eight solid tips for caring for your growing collection of art:

  1. Keep artwork out of direct sunlight.
  2. Do not lean anything against the surface of your artwork.
  3. Dust frames and Plexiglas with a clean, microfiber cloth as needed to prevent dust buildup.
  4. Do not hang framed artwork in high-traffic areas.
  5. Avoid spaces with extreme temperature fluctuations (attics or basements), or spaces with high humidity (bathrooms or kitchens).
  6. If possible, keep original packing material for future storing needs or acquire proper archival packing materials as needed.
  7. Check the condition of your art objects regularly.
  8. Don’t attempt repairs yourself. Reach out to your local framer first, then contact us if you need guidance finding a local conservator.

We encourage people to buy art they love over art as an investment. However, limited edition artworks typically retain or increase in value. While this is generally true, Haystack cannot guarantee an increase in value.

Haystack will never sell, rent, or share your personal information and/or account details.
